Reach your Goals

Get to Know Us

We aim to provide all patients with prompt and thorough assessment, diagnosis and treatment of injuries as well as muscle, joint and nerve pain. Our physiotherapists are able to create customised self management and injury prevention exercise programs to aid in recovery, ongoing prevention or self management.

Ankle Pain

Common types of ankle pains are arthritis, tendinitis and sprains. You may find ankle pains can cause you pain with movement or weightbearing, joint stiffness, poor balance and instability. Our goal is to relieve you from those symptoms and discuss a management plan which may include strengthening and conditioning, ankle bracing/taping, ice/heat therapy and footwear.

ACL Injury Rehabiliation

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries occur frequently with excessive twisting and pivoting of the knee when changing running direction or landing awkwardly. We assess ACL injuries and can rehabilitate them either conservatively or post-operatively depending on client-tailored goals and needs. For our clients who wish to return to sport, we improve their knee function through strengthening and conditioning while analysing their jumping and landing patterns to prevent further ACL injuries.

Chest Physiotherapy

We offer chest physiotherapy for clients who are inhibited by respiratory and pulmonary conditions. Shortness of breath (Dyspnoea) and airway blockage by sputum can restrict your ability to participate in physical activity. Our chest physiotherapy involves hands-on therapy, education and exercise therapy to improve your signs and symptoms.

Kevin has a special interest and the preferred physiotherapist for chest physiotherapy.

Running Injuries

Running injuries can occur when you are pushing your body to its limits.

There are many running injuries and they can present in different forms such as:

- Patellofemoral syndrome (Runner’s knee)
- Shin splints
- Achilles tendinitis
- Iliotibial band (ITB) syndrome
- Muscle strains
- Plantar fasciitis

Our clinic analyses running biomechanics, discusses footwear and orthotics, and monitor training loads to bring the best running out of you.

Headaches

The cervical spine is one of the leading causes of headaches. At SSP we are trained in the Watson technique for headaches caused by the cervical spine. Our physiotherapists can identify the underlying cause, assess for red flags and tailor a program specifically for your needs.

Back Pain

SSP sees many cases of back pain no matter what phase it is in: acute, subacute and chronic. Some cases of back pain can also cause referral pain in the legs such as Sciatica. All back pains can restrict our ability to perform at home, work and sport such as lifting, twisting, pushing/pulling, and bending. We do not just improve your back symptoms through physiotherapy, we also aim to implement strategies to prevent further recurrences of back pain.

Foot and Heel Pain

Foot and heel pain can be a major concern as we spend a lot of time on our feet walking from place to place.  Our assessment is most crucial to solving your pain by identifying your foot type, biomechanics and causes of foot and heel pain.

Tennis or Golfer's Elbow

Tennis Elbow refers to the pain experienced over the outside bump of the elbow (lateral epicondyle). Golfers Elbow refers to localised pain to the inner bump (medial epicondyle). Both conditions can radiate down the forearm. At SSP we will tailor treat which may involve hands-on myofascial releases, joint mobilisations and a graded stretching and strengthening program. We may also use dry needling, bracing analgesic therapy.

Children's Growing Pains

Growing pains are very common in children, especially in those playing sport. Common problems are Severs Disease (heel pain) and Osgood Schlatters (knee pain). Severs Disease is inflammation of the growth plate at the back of the heel. Osgood Schlatters is inflammation and pain below the knee cap. As physiotherapists we can assess, diagnose, treat and organise a program to reduce pain and restore normal function.

Bracing & Sports Taping

Braces are designed to relieve pain, swelling and stiffness. They can also improve quality of life and assist in return to sport. At SSP we carry a wide variety of braces for both sporting and recreational needs. Our physiotherapists are trained to identify and rehabilitate injuries utilising bracing and sports taping to assist with a safe and early return to sport.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is utilized for a variety of musculoskeletal disorders. It is very effective in the treatment of myofascial pain. At SSP Greg and Kevin both use dry needling for acute and chronic disorders with excellent results.

TMJ (Jaw Pain)

TMJ refers to the treatment of jaw disorders. TMJ dysfunction can cause localized pain, headaches and compromised movement of the jaw joint and surrounding muscle tissue. Clicking, locking and difficulty eating are common with TMJ dysfunction.  TMJ treatment includes a holistic approach that involves gentle mobilisations of the affected structures, massage, and/or dry needling along with a home program.
